Lisa Thomson is the Owner and Principle Audiologist at About Hearing. She is a caring Audiologist who is passionate about making a difference in people’s lives by helping them overcome the barriers that hearing loss can cause. She really listens to her clients and her focus is always on finding the right solution for each individual. With more than twenty years clinical experience and a strong emphasis on clinical excellence you can be assured of a high standard of hearing care.
Lisa graduated with an undergraduate degree in Commerce and Psychology in 1987. She then went on to complete her Masters’ degree in Audiology at the University of Auckland in 1995 after her young daughter was diagnosed with a hearing loss. Lisa initially spent time working at the Hawke’s Bay Hospital Audiology Department, gaining a solid foundation in both adult and paediatric hearing services before becoming a co-owner in a small, privately owned hearing clinic in Havelock North. This gave her the opportunity to focus on adult hearing aid fittings and rehabilitation and the clinic soon became recognised for its strong emphasis on client care.
When the clinic was sold eight years later, Lisa became a locum Audiologist which gave her the opportunity to work in a variety of clinical settings around New Zealand and in Australia. Lisa also holds membership to the Australian Audiological Society, (ASA) and is able to work as an Audiologist in both countries. Lisa gained valuable insight from this experience and has implemented the best practices she observed at each clinic into her own business. Lisa knows firsthand the effects that hearing loss can have on a family and treats each client with empathy and understanding.
